Taragaon Regency’s profit surges by 28%, tops earnings per share list

KATHMANDU: Four hotel companies listed on the secondary market have released their financial reports for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year. According to the published reports, City Hotel reported a loss, while the other three hotels remained profitable.

On average, the combined net profit of the four hotel companies stood at NPR 986.1 million, an increase from the NPR 778.7 million recorded in the previous fiscal year.

Among the four listed hotels, Taragaon Regency topped the list in terms of earnings per share (EPS), with an EPS of NPR 26.41 for the last fiscal year. In terms of net worth per share, Oriental Hotel led the pack, with a net worth of NPR 343 per share.

Oriental Hotel’s Profit Drops by 24%

Oriental Hotel, which operates the Radisson Hotel, reported a net profit of NPR 122.3 million for the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year, marking a 24% decline from the previous year’s profit of NPR 160.9 million.

Despite an increase in operating income, the company’s profit decreased. Oriental Hotel’s operating income rose to NPR 1.15 billion from NPR 1.08 billion in the previous fiscal year. However, a decrease in other income and a rise in total expenses—up by 8.14%—negatively impacted the profit. The company’s total expenses increased from NPR 897.7 million to NPR 970.8 million over the same period.

As a result of the profit decline, Oriental Hotel’s EPS also shrank from NPR 14.27 to NPR 10.84. The company’s net worth per share stands at NPR 343.41. As of Wednesday’s market close, Oriental Hotel’s share price was NPR 1,088 per share.

Taragaon Regency’s Profit Increases by 28%

Taragaon Regency, which operates the Hyatt Regency, saw its net profit increase by 28.17% in the last fiscal year. The company’s net profit rose from NPR 404.3 million in the previous fiscal year to NPR 518.2 million.

The rise in profit is attributed to an increase in operating income, which grew from NPR 1.34 billion to NPR 1.49 billion. In addition to operating income, the company also saw an increase in other income.

Taragaon Regency’s EPS stood at NPR 26.41, up from NPR 21.43 in the previous fiscal year. The company’s net worth per share is NPR 146.62. As of Wednesday’s market close, its share price was NPR 1,237 per share.

City Hotel Records NPR 255.4 Million Loss

City Hotel, which operates Hyatt Place, reported a loss of NPR 255.4 million for the last fiscal year. However, this loss is a reduction from the previous fiscal year’s loss of NPR 341.4 million.

The company’s operating income saw a slight increase, rising from NPR 473.1 million to NPR 504.2 million. Despite this, the company’s EPS remained negative at NPR -12.23, with a net worth per share of NPR 103.55. As of Wednesday’s market close, City Hotel’s share price was NPR 1,019.90 per share.

Soaltee Hotel’s Profit Rises by 8%

Soaltee Hotel, which issued shares with a face value of NPR 10 per share, saw its share price reach NPR 624.10 per share by Wednesday’s market close, equivalent to NPR 6,240 when compared to the face value of NPR 100.

The company’s net profit increased by 8.3% in the last fiscal year, rising from NPR 554.9 million in the previous year to NPR 601 million. The profit growth is attributed to an increase in operating income, which rose from NPR 2.25 billion to NPR 2.49 billion. Soaltee Hotel’s EPS stands at NPR 6.47, with a net worth per share of NPR 25.43.
