KATHMANDU: Renowned mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa has once again etched his name in the annals of climbing history by conquering Mount Everest for an unprecedented 29th time, solidifying his position as the world record holder for the most ascents of the planet’s highest peak.
“This morning at 7:25 am, Kami Rita Sherpa successfully summited the world’s highest mountain Mount Everest for an incredible 29th time,” announced Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Chief Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expedition, with admiration for the climber’s remarkable feat.
Confirming the achievement, Khimlal Gautam, Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office at the base camp, affirmed Kami Rita’s triumphant ascent, highlighting his exceptional prowess in mountaineering.
Hailing from Thame village in Solukhumbu, Nepal, Kami Rita, currently serving as a Senior Guide at 14 Peaks Expedition, has dedicated his life to the pursuit of mountaineering, becoming synonymous with the awe-inspiring grandeur of the world’s highest peak.
Born on January 2, 1970, Kami Rita’s passion for climbing was ignited at a young age, and over the course of more than two decades, he has fearlessly scaled numerous peaks, earning admiration and respect from fellow climbers and enthusiasts alike.
“His mountaineering journey commenced in 1992 when he joined an Everest expedition as a support staff member. Since then, Kami Rita has fearlessly embarked on numerous expeditions, summiting Everest multiple times,” shared Tashi Lakpa, shedding light on Kami Rita’s illustrious career.
Beyond Everest, Kami Rita’s indomitable spirit has led him to conquer other formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu, showcasing his unparalleled determination and skill in the world of mountaineering.
