KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) took decisive action on Sunday by relocating its aircraft with registration number 9N-AKX to Israel for essential maintenance. The urgency of this decision arose due to the impending Dashain and Tihar festivals, highlighting the critical need for repairs.
Following prolonged delays, the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Company, at last, secured a slot for the crucial engine replacement, a vital component for the aircraft’s functionality.
Consequently, NAC decided to dispatch the aircraft to Israel, with its departure scheduled for 23:30 PM on September 17.
In adherence to the maintenance schedule, NAC has announced that the aircraft will return to Kathmandu on September 22 after undergoing necessary engine modifications in Israel.
Nepal Airlines Corporation wishes to clarify recent reports in various media outlets regarding the grounding of the 9N-AKX aircraft.
It emphasizes that periodic issues with various components of aircraft are routine occurrences, and conducting regular maintenance in accordance with established standards is a standard practice to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the aircraft.
