KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army (NA) has spent money on the Kathmandu-Terai Fast Track Project under several headings that are unrelated to the fast-track project, and the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) has expressed concern about this.
The army reportedly spent Rs 2.76 billion on fast-track projects, according to the OAG’s 60th Annual Report, even though those costs aren’t really connected to the project.
The purchase of vehicles, administrative costs, equipment, fuel, furniture, camp construction, and other costs are among those not directly associated with the project.
The report estimates that this expense represents 8 point 04 percent of all project expenses to date. The army has spent Rs 329 million on fuel as part of this project. Likewise, the report mentions that Rs 67 million was spent on building the camps.
The OAG report states that the army spent Rs. 42.45 million on administrative expenses. Furniture costing Rs. 5 million and vehicles costing Rs. 158.05 million were spent by the army.
The report mentions that the army also shelled out Rs. 782.3 million for equipment.
The Nepalese Army has invested 34.29 billion rupees in the project, according to the report. A total of Rs 2.76 billion of this sum was spent on subjects unrelated to the project.
The project has already spent Rs 1.53 billion on consulting services, according to the report. The report advises finishing the work on time because consulting fees will rise as the project’s completion time does, too.
