KATHMANDU: Though Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had vowed to raise salary of government staffs through the budget, there will not be any increment in the salary of civil servants.
Amid resource constraints, salary increment of government staffs has been put on hold this year, as per sources at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
“The government is under pressure to manage huge resources to fight the pandemic, election and social security allowance. Thus, salary increment of government staffs could not be prioritized in the budget,” said the source.
However, the government is expected to raise dearness allowance of government workers by Rs 1,000 in the budget.
