New budget through parliamentary process, not ordinance: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Amid growing concerns if the new fiscal year’s budget will come through an ordinance, Prime Minister KP Oli on Sunday said that the annual budget 2021/22 will be introduced through the due parliamentary process.

Addressing a press meet on Sunday, PM Oli said, “Parliament is still alive and the budget will be introduced following due parliamentary processes.”

However, the government has already failed to work on the preparatory works for an annual budget announcement that needs to be held on May 29 as per the constitution.

With less than two weeks in hand, the government has even failed to present the ‘government’s policies and programs,’ which is one of the most essential elements to introduce the annual budget.
