TIA to operate for only 18 hours a day from March 28

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will operate for only 18 hours a day from March 31.

The airport, which is currently operating for 21 hours a day (6am to 3am), will operate for only 18 hours from March 28, informed TIA authority. However, the airport will operate from 6am to 12am (midnight) from March 28.

TIA General Manager Pratap Babu Tiwari, informed that the period of operation of the airport has been reduced due to low number of flights and passengers, reduction in revenue due to COVID and high operating expenses.

Similarly, Tiwari also informed that there were few flights during night-time and they will be asked to carry flights during day slot.
