DoT seeks bids to build new hiking trails and renovate existing ones

KATHMANDU: Department of Tourism (DoT) has published a notice today calling for bids to introduce and renovate hiking trails within Kathmandu valley and places close to the capital.

The DoT has begun the process to introduce new hiking trails and renovate the existing ones inside and in the surrounding areas of Kathmandu valley at an expense of Rs 60 million. The notice mentions that the purpose of this project is to promote short-term tourism activities and maintain the beauty of Kathmandu valley.

Interested companies have been given a month’s time to submit their proposals. Taking into consideration the COVID-19 the department has arranged an e-bidding system for the tender. Interested companies can participate in the tender process via the online platform. To participate in the tender interested firms have to deposit collateral worth Rs 1.7 million at Nepal Rastra Bank.

The tender has been opened for KantipurMarga, Kakani, Gurjebhanjyang, Suryachaur, Shivapuri, Village, Bhardev, Lele, Deurali and Godawari.

Recently, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) had also directed Nepal Tourism Board to study the possibility of building tourism infrastructure close to Kathmandu valley and which can accommodate more than 500,000 tourists.

The MoCTA had initiated the program with an aim to promote tourism activities in the post-pandemic time.
