Govt extends prohibitory order by one week, operation of private vehicles allowed on odd-even basis

KATHMANDU: The meeting of chief district officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu Valley have decided to extend the ongoing prohibitory order by one week with some flexibility.

The prohibitory orders enforced in Valley to contain the spread of Covid-19 expires on Monday. However, the government decided to extend prohibitory order by one week citing that the Covid-19 infection rate in Valley has not come down notably.

Under the new prohibitory order modality, which will come into effect from Tuesday, private vehicles can operate on odd-even basis while operation of public vehicles is still barred.

Similarly, the CDOs meeting has also decided to allow certain retail businesses on day basis. While shops related to gold, utensils, auto mobiles and electronic items will be allowed to be opened on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am to 4 pm, those related to apparels, cosmetics, and tailoring, will be allowed to open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 4 pm.
