Denying to get listed, BFI employees threaten to protest against social security fund

KATHMANDU: The Financial Institute Employees Union of Nepal (FIEUN) has warned of agitation saying that the Social Security Fund (SSF) has put pressure on banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to get listed in it.

The Social Security Fund had issued a notice urging firms, companies and organizations to be listed in the contribution-based social security scheme by mid-July 2021. However, FIEUN has expressed serious concern over the pressure exerted by the SSF on the employees of BFIs to be included in the social security with lower facilities than what they are getting at present.

FIEUN president Padma Raj Regmi said that they had to protest against the conspiratorial and greedy attempt to bring BFIs employees in the social security scheme without any attractive plan for them.

FIEUN has also sought the provision of health care, medicine and health treatment to the employees working in banks and financial institutions as well as compulsory vaccination to the family members of the employees and employees who are at risk due to missing out on vaccinations in the sector.
