KATHMANDU: The government has given permission to 10 mountaineering expedition teams to climb mountains this winter season .
As per the Department of Tourism (DoT), it issued the climbing permits to 45 individuals of the expeditions for this season as of Wednesday. Of them, three are the Nepali mountaineering expeditions that consist of 18 climbers.
A total of seven female climbers are participating in 10 expeditions. The government has collected revenue of Rs 896,005 in royalty through issuing the permits.
According to the DoT, the mountaineering expedition teams mainly look to climb low-altitude peaks during this winter. Among those receiving the government permits, two teams are permitted to climb each of Mt Manaslu with an altitude of 8,163 meter and the 6,814-meter high Amadablam.
