KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) governor Maha Prasad Adhikari today instructed banks and financial institutions (BFIs) not to pressurize industrialists and businessmen who are in trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing a webinar organized by the central bank today, governor Adhikari requested BFIs to instead encourage industrialists in trouble by providing them certain relief.
“It is not a good idea to tighten up the business that have been hit by the pandemic. Instead, it is high time for us to collectively protect businesses,” said Adhikari, “Although there is no objection to collect loan from those who have been earning, this is not the time to businessmen in trouble who are in already in trouble due to the COVID-19.”
He further urged banks to create a long-term business environment by providing relief to the troubled entrepreneurs.
