KATHMANDU: The Selection and Recommendation Committee of the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) has released a shortlist of five candidates for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The announcement comes after the committee invited applications through public notices issued on February 24 and March 2.
The shortlisted candidates are Chudamani Chapagain, Narad Kumar Luintel, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemant Basyal. The committee excluded other applicants, including Yuvraj Dahal, Pravin Adhikari, Bimal Kumar Tiwari, Krishna Bahadur Karki, and Mukunda Raj Joshi, from the final list.
The shortlisted candidates will now proceed to the next phase of the selection process, which includes presenting their business plans and attending interviews. They have been instructed to appear at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, March 19, at 7:00 AM for this purpose. Following the presentations and interviews, the committee will recommend a candidate for the CEO position, and the final appointment will be decided by the Council of Ministers based on the committee’s recommendation.
The Ministry of Finance formed a three-member selection committee on February 23, chaired by Sewantak Pokharel, to oversee the open competitive process for NEPSE’s CEO appointment. The committee includes Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Amrit Lamsal and Dr. Khomraj Kharel as members, with Pokharel, head of the Financial Sector Management and Institutions Division, serving as the coordinator.
This transparent selection process marks a significant step in appointing a new leader for NEPSE, the country’s sole stock exchange, as it aims to strengthen its operations and governance in the financial market.
