KATHMANDU: The government has sought clarification from Kulman Ghising, the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The government, which is in the final stages of preparing to remove him from his post, has decided to demand an explanation, including the issue of receiving zero points in performance evaluation.
Government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung stated that the Cabinet, during its meeting on Wednesday evening, decided to seek clarification from Ghising. He has been given 72 hours to respond. The government, which is preparing to sack him from his position as Managing Director, has asked for this clarification.
The government has based its demand for clarification on the fact that Ghising was awarded zero marks in his performance evaluation.
Previously, the government had also sought clarification from him. He was asked to submit details as per the performance agreement by the end of Bhadra (mid-September), but he failed to do so, prompting the government to demand an explanation. In the performance evaluation submitted to the concerned ministry, the government had given him zero points.
The government refused to award any points, stating that the deadline had expired. Ghising, however, had claimed 98.99 points.
On Wednesday, opposition parties in the House of Representatives protested, alleging that the government was attempting to remove Ghising from his position.
