KATHMANDU: The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has recognized outstanding taxpayers on the occasion of National Tax Day. A special ceremony held on Saturday honored the top contributors in various sectors for their exemplary tax compliance.
This year, Nepal Telecommunications Company (Nepal Telecom) was acknowledged for submitting the highest number of income tax filings, while Rajbahadur Shah received recognition as the taxpayer who paid the highest income tax. In the individual categories, Shruti Traders stood out among sole proprietorship firms, while Dabur Nepal excelled in the goods export sector. Kodavatar Pvt. Ltd., specializing in information technology services, and Patanjali Ayurveda in the agriculture and livestock industries also received accolades.
Nabil Bank was honored for its contribution in the banking, financial, and insurance sectors, while Lumbini Medical College & Teaching Hospital was recognized in the health and educational sectors.
The tourism industry also had its share of winners, with Taragaon Regency Hotel earning recognition, while Bhat-Bhateni Supermarket was lauded for its achievements in retail trade. Among taxpayers with an annual turnover ranging from 50 million to 100 million, CDA Tech & Clearing Limited, Bhotekoshi Power Company in the energy sector, and City Express in remittance and money transfer services were acknowledged for their contributions.
Additionally, Hongshi Shivam Cement Pvt. Ltd. was honored for its regular and timely VAT returns and active participation in tax payment, showcasing the company’s commitment to tax compliance.
The awards highlight the significant role that these organizations and individuals play in supporting Nepal’s economy and encouraging responsible tax practices.
