KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) is on track to pass the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 on June 21, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat’s parliamentary calendar.
The Appropriation Bill, which details the budget allocations, will be presented for a decision in the House on that date. Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun had proposed a comprehensive budget of Rs 1.8603 trillion on May 28, which has since undergone general discussions and is now in the ministerial review phase.
Today marks the beginning of focused discussions on the budgets of specific ministries, starting with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, and Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. These discussions will continue daily until the budget’s anticipated approval on June 21.
The parliamentary process involves meticulous review and debate to ensure that the proposed allocations meet the country’s developmental needs and fiscal policies. The conclusion of these discussions will pave the way for the formal adoption of the budget, facilitating governmental operations and public services for the next fiscal year.
