KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited’s Chairman, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, officially took the oath of office and secrecy in a ceremony presided over by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari on Sunday.
Dhakal, who also serves as the Chairman of the Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was unanimously elected as a board member during the 17th annual general meeting of Dhakal Bank. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Chairman at the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted board of directors.
Reflecting on the bank’s journey, Dhakal acknowledged its humble beginnings as a small remittance services provider named IME.
He attributed the bank’s current status as Global IME Bank to its adherence to the policies and directives of the Government of Nepal and Nepal Rastra Bank. Dhakal expressed gratitude for the crucial support provided by Nepal Rastra Bank and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to foster the growth of the banking sector.
In light of evolving global conditions, Dhakal stressed the imperative for Nepali banks to embrace digitalization and technology. He affirmed his commitment to strengthening and enhancing Global IME Bank during his tenure as Chairman.
Following the oath-taking ceremony with the Nepal Rastra Bank Governor, Dhakal administered the oath to the newly elected directors. The board comprises founding shareholders Ram Bahadur Bhandari and Radesh Pant, along with general shareholders Krishna Prasad Sharma, Narayan Prasad Poudel, and Madanlal Joshi. All were unanimously elected during the 17th Annual General Meeting of Global IME Bank.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina, and Bam Bahadur Mishra, Executive Directors, members of the Global IME Bank Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, and other senior officials.
