Nepal’s civil aviation authority grounds choppers over adverse weather infractions

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has imposed a suspension on helicopter operations by two companies due to violations of flying regulations in adverse weather conditions around the Lukla region.

Reports indicate that Shree Airlines and Fishtail Air have been specifically prohibited from conducting flights in this area.

This action comes in response to an incident where one of these companies operated a helicopter in contravention of the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) during conditions of less than 100 meters visibility. Consequently, CAAN has decided to halt the operations of helicopters belonging to these two companies until further notice.

It’s important to note that CAAN has specifically grounded AS350 B3E model helicopters, while other aircraft operated by these companies remain unaffected by the suspension.
