Nepal, India to sign joint transmission line agreement in Khattar’s visit

KATHMANDU: India’s Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar arrived in Kathmandu today for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Nepal’s Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka. He was received by officials from the Ministry of Energy and the Indian Embassy.

Today, Khattar and Khadka will jointly inaugurate the 220 kV Koshi Corridor transmission line, including the Inaruwa–Basatpur–Baneshwor–Tumlingtar line and substations in Tumlingtar, Baneshwor, and Basatpur, at the Tumlingtar substation in Sankhuwasabha. Khattar will also inspect the Arun III Hydropower Project’s powerhouse and dam site. An agreement for a joint India-Nepal transmission line construction company will be signed.

On April 23, Khattar will visit Muktinath in Mustang and hold meetings with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh. He will conclude his visit with a trip to Pashupatinath Temple before returning to India that evening.
