WordCamp Nepal 2025: A celebration of quality and community in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Every year, we bring WordCamp Nepal to life, and this time, we chose Kathmandu as our stage. As the lead organizer of WordCamp Nepal 2025, I can say with pride that our focus this year wasn’t about drawing the biggest crowd but about delivering something meaningful—something of true quality. Our goal was clear: create an event tailored for those immersed in WordPress and the broader IT sector, a space where passion meets purpose.
This year’s event kicked off with Contribution Day, a day that saw over 300 participants come together. That’s a fantastic number, and it set the tone for what was to come. On that first day, we dove into the heart of WordPress—working on core themes, tinkering with plugins, and contributing to a platform that powers so much of the digital world. It was a hands-on start, and the energy was palpable.
Then came the main Conference Day, a packed schedule of 16 sessions, three workshops, and a parallel panel discussion. We welcomed experts from Nepal and beyond, each sharing deep insights into their fields. These sessions weren’t just talks—they were opportunities to explore where we stand in the global IT landscape. Are we ready to compete on the world stage? That’s the question we aimed to answer, and I believe we’ve struck a balance between local talent and global ambition.
One thing I’m especially proud of is our commitment to students. We’ve put learners first, giving them a front-row seat to this experience. They’re here to soak up knowledge, and we’re here to guide them. When they step into the job market tomorrow, we’ll help place them, ensuring their career paths grow stronger. This isn’t just about today—it’s about building a future where they can hold their own in global competition. They’ll leave knowing where Nepal stands and how the world works, ready to adapt and thrive.
WordCamp Nepal isn’t just about WordPress, though. It’s bigger than that. We’ve opened the door to content developers, security experts, web developers, digital marketers, and even those riding the wave of trends like TikTok. The tech sector is vast, and we’ve made space for it all. This diversity is part of why we’ve earned a reputation as a top IT destination in the Asian zone. That’s not just a title—it’s a point of pride for every Nepali.
Nepal has changed. Gone are the days of unreliable internet and load-shedding. Today, our IT experts sit in Kathmandu and work for the world. That’s a story we’re telling at WordCamp 2025—a story of passion, honesty, and a growing presence in the global market. We’re not just hosting an event; we’re showcasing what’s possible when a community comes together.
What makes WordCamp Nepal unique? It starts with WP Nepal, our active, non-profit forum that’s been running since 2012. We’ve held 18 events in Kathmandu alone and reached cities far beyond. We follow a global structure and guidelines, ensuring every step is deliberate and every decision reviewed. This isn’t about chasing quick wins—it’s about creating an experience so valuable that participants can’t wait to return.
And they do come back. The 650-plus attendees, including over 100 from abroad, prove it. They’re here because they know this event matters. They gain skills, confidence, and connections that will carry them forward in this sector. That’s what drives us.
Everything we do is voluntary. Every ticket is bought, every task is taken on without payment. That’s the spirit of WordCamp Nepal 2025—a community effort fueled by a shared love for technology. As I look out at this event, I see more than a conference. I see Nepal stepping boldly into the global IT conversation, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of it.
