Narad Luintel appointed as CEO of Nepal Stock Exchange

KATHMANDU: Narad Luintel has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), following a decision made during a Cabinet meeting on Monday evening. Luintel, who previously served as the Member Secretary of the Taragaon Development Committee, steps into the role after a competitive selection process.

The NEPSE CEO selection committee had opened applications from February 24 to March 9, 2025 (Falgun 12 to Falgun 25, 2081), receiving submissions from 10 candidates. From these, the committee shortlisted five individuals: Chudamani Chapagain, Narad Kumar Luintel, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemant Basyal.
On March 20 (Chaitra 6), the shortlisted candidates were invited to the Ministry of Finance for presentations of their business plans and interviews. Based on the evaluations of these presentations and interviews, the committee recommended the top three highest-scoring candidates for the CEO position. Luintel emerged as the final choice, securing the appointment with Cabinet approval.

His appointment comes at a critical time for NEPSE, which has faced volatility and public scrutiny in recent months. Luintel’s experience and proposed vision will be closely watched as he takes the helm of Nepal’s sole stock exchange.
