KU Vice-Chancellor Wagle sworn In: PM Oli ushers in fresh leadership

KATHMANDU: The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU), Prof. Dr. Achyut Prasad Wagle, took the oath of office and secrecy on Monday. The oath was administered by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, during a ceremony held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

Prime Minister Oli appointed Dr. Wagle as Vice-Chancellor based on the recommendation of a search and recommendation committee formed to select a candidate for the vacant position. Dr. Wagle was chosen from among three candidates proposed by the committee, which was led by its coordinator and two members. The appointment was made in accordance with Section 13(4) of the University Act, 2048 (1991).

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidhya Bhattarai, the Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Eknarayan Aryal, and Secretary of the Ministry of Education Dr. Deepak Kafle, among others.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the delays in the Vice-Chancellor appointment process and expressed his hope that all stakeholders would work together with vigilance in the future to maintain KU as a shared and exemplary institution. He extended his best wishes to Dr. Wagle for his tenure ahead.

Prior to this appointment, Prof. Dr. Wagle served as the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of Kathmandu University.
