KATHMANDU: Genese Solution, a UK-based IT consulting and cybersecurity company, hosted an insightful interaction program in Kathmandu on Friday (February 21) to explore the transformative potential of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), cybersecurity, and customer engagement. The event brought together industry leaders, tech experts, and professionals from various sectors, including banking, telecommunications, and IT, to discuss the opportunities and challenges posed by emerging technologies.
During the event, Mr. Niranjan Kunwar, Chief Technical Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at Genese Solution, emphasized the need for organizations to adopt a holistic approach to cybersecurity that integrates people, processes, and technology. Highlighting the growing complexity of cyber threats, he urged companies to take proactive measures to strengthen their security practices and mitigate risks.
Mr. Kunwar introduced a three-step framework for organizations to enhance their cybersecurity maturity: assessing current practices, creating a strategic roadmap, and prioritizing actions based on their impact and effort. “Cybersecurity is not just about technology; it’s about building a culture of awareness and implementing robust processes,” he said. He further stressed that businesses must regularly evaluate their security posture and align their strategies with evolving threats to stay ahead.
Bishnu Subedi, Vice President of Engineering at Genese Solution, highlighted the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) in driving innovation and enabling businesses to gain a competitive edge. “GenAI will unlock distinctiveness and empower business leaders to move faster,” he stated. Subedi explained that GenAI can streamline operations, enhance decision-making, and create new opportunities for growth by automating repetitive tasks and generating valuable insights.
He also underscored the importance of leveraging GenAI responsibly, ensuring that its adoption aligns with ethical standards and organizational goals. “The key is to use GenAI as a tool to amplify human creativity and productivity, not replace it,” he added.
Kailash Badu, Vice President of Genese Solution, addressed the growing concern of uniformity in communication due to the widespread use of tools like ChatGPT. “Before ChatGPT, every email and message had a personal touch and reflected individuality. Now, everything seems the same,” he remarked. Badu emphasized the need for businesses to differentiate themselves in an increasingly crowded market by creating a “WOW factor” through innovative use of technology.
“We cannot be 100 different people with the same face,” Badu said, urging companies to focus on authenticity and creativity in their communications. He encouraged businesses to harness the power of GenAI while maintaining their unique identity and brand voice.
Pravesh Rijal, Head of the Quantitative Strategies Department at Cross River Bank—a New York-based financial institution—shared insights into the bank’s collaboration with Genese Solution. He revealed that over 20 engineers from Genese Solution are currently working as staff developers at Cross River Bank. “In close partnership with AWS, we are transforming our workflows, team designs, technology stacks, and knowledge base,” Rijal said.
The event also featured an AWS Virtual Session, where participants gained valuable insights into cloud-based solutions and their role in enhancing operational efficiency and security. The session highlighted how organizations can leverage AWS services to scale their operations and address emerging challenges in the digital landscape.
In his concluding remarks, Anjani Phuyal, Chief Executive Officer of Genese Solution, emphasized the dual impact of AI on the global tech sector. “AI has brought both opportunities and challenges, and Nepal cannot afford to lag behind,” he said. Phuyal called upon businesses to embrace Generative AI as a catalyst for growth while addressing the associated cybersecurity risks.
He urged companies to allocate more resources toward strengthening their cybersecurity infrastructure and fostering a culture of innovation. “The future belongs to those who can adapt quickly and responsibly to technological advancements,” Phuyal added.
The interaction saw active participation from Chief Technical Officers (CTOs), Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), and tech leaders from leading banks, telecom companies, and IT firms in Nepal. Attendees engaged in lively discussions on topics such as the ethical use of AI, the importance of personalized customer engagement, and strategies for mitigating cyber risks.
Participants left the event with a deeper understanding of how GenAI can drive business transformation and the critical role of cybersecurity in safeguarding digital assets. Many expressed optimism about the potential of AI to revolutionize industries while acknowledging the need for responsible implementation.
As Nepal continues to navigate the rapidly evolving tech landscape, events like this interaction organized by Genese Solution play a vital role in fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders. By equipping businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to harness AI and address cybersecurity challenges, such initiatives pave the way for sustainable growth and innovation.
With the global tech sector undergoing unprecedented changes, Nepal stands at a crossroads. Embracing emerging technologies like GenAI, while prioritizing cybersecurity, will be crucial for the country to remain competitive and resilient in the years to come.
