KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has unveiled a draft of the National Strategy for Public Financial Management Reform, aimed at enhancing efficiency and transparency in public finances. This five-year strategy, prepared by the Ministry of Finance, seeks to strengthen financial discipline and improve public service delivery across all levels of government.
The Ministry has called on the public to provide feedback and suggestions for the draft, marking an inclusive approach to policy development. Citizens can submit their views via email at ‘ffcd@mof.gov.np.’
This is the third such strategy introduced by the government, reflecting its continued commitment to optimizing public financial practices. The strategy focuses on reforms in financial policies, revenue mobilization, budgeting, expenditure management, internal controls, debt, asset management, accounting, and auditing. It also prioritizes the integration of advanced information technology and capacity-building measures.
The Ministry anticipates that the new strategy will not only enhance the efficiency of resource allocation but also ensure transparency and good governance in public financial management across federal, provincial, and local levels.
The government expects that this initiative will contribute to improving financial oversight and fostering trust among citizens regarding the use of public resources.
