Focused on policy and structural reforms to strengthen the economy: FM Paudel

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has stated that the government is focused on policy and structural reforms to strengthen Nepal’s economy. During a formal meeting with the fifth review mission team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Minister Paudel expressed confidence that recent improvements in the economy and ongoing reforms will play a pivotal role in achieving significant outcomes.

Minister Paudel emphasized that the government is paying special attention to addressing economic challenges through laws, policies, and dialogue while advancing reform initiatives. He assured that suggestions from the international community would be implemented in alignment with national context and needs.

Highlighting the importance of the successful completion of the fifth review in collaboration with the IMF, Minister Paudel expressed confidence in adequate cooperation and coordination from Nepal’s side. He also urged the review mission to hold further discussions and consultations with relevant stakeholders on issues related to economic reforms.

The IMF team, led by Sarwat Jahan, noted that the review of past reform programs is ongoing and that they are preparing for the next steps.
