KATHMANDU: The government has blacklisted 12 construction companies and suppliers for failing to meet contractual obligations. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) issued a notice on Wednesday, announcing its decision to blacklist these entities based on recommendations from various public agencies.
According to the notice, the companies were blacklisted under Section 63(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 BS. As a result, these firms will be barred from participating in any procurement processes for periods ranging from six months to three years.
– Several companies and suppliers are blacklisted for three years. – Others face bans for one year or six months, depending on the severity of their non-compliance.
The move follows written requests from 12 public entities, including: – The Transport Infrastructure Directorate in Fidim, Panchthar. – Nepal Telecom Central Office. – The Road Department in Chaurjahari, Rukum West. – The Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office. – Nepal Forest Corporation Limited.
The PPMO emphasized that the decision aims to enhance accountability and compliance in public procurement. The blacklisting serves as a warning to other contractors and suppliers to adhere strictly to their contractual obligations.
This action underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and efficiency in public procurement processes, which are crucial for Nepal’s infrastructure development and service delivery.
