KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has announced that the exchange of clean notes for this year’s Dashain festival will commence today and continue until October 8. This annual service allows the public to exchange old or damaged currency for clean, crisp notes in preparation for the upcoming festivities.
According to NRB, the exchange facilities will be available at the Currency Management Department, the Banking Department, and regional offices located in Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi. Additionally, branch offices of licensed banks and financial institutions will also provide clean note exchange services.
In line with previous years, individuals can exchange notes up to a maximum value of Rs 18,500. The exchange is available for currency denominations of Rs 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100.
This initiative aims to ensure that people have clean and undamaged notes during Dashain, which is considered the most important festival in Nepal, marked by various traditional rituals, including the exchange of blessings and money.
