PM Oli: Government ready to create favorable environment for private sector investment

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has affirmed the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for both national and international private sector investment in Nepal. Speaking at the “Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024,” organized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Oli emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector to drive economic growth.

“Infrastructure development is a key catalyst for economic growth. Recognizing this, we have prioritized the development of roads, infrastructure, and transmission lines,” said Prime Minister Oli during his address. “We expect cooperation and positive support from all levels of government in this effort.”

Highlighting the importance of infrastructure, Oli expressed the government’s willingness to work hand-in-hand with the private sector to enhance Nepal’s economic landscape. He called for collective efforts from all three tiers of government to ensure successful infrastructure development.

The Prime Minister also discussed Nepal’s gradual economic recovery following the impact of COVID-19, noting that the country is on track to upgrade from a least developed country (LDC) status within a few years.

The Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024 serves as a platform to discuss and promote investment opportunities, particularly in the sectors of transportation, energy, and urban development, while focusing on public-private partnerships to meet Nepal’s growing infrastructure needs.
