KATHMANDU: The Nepal Association for Software and IT Services Companies (NAS-IT) successfully concluded its Second Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Hotel Soaltee, Kathmandu, bringing together over 50 representatives from various companies, board members, and key stakeholders. The event provided a platform to review the activities and accomplishments of the past year and discuss future plans for the organization.
The highlight of the AGM was the appointment of Santosh Koirala, Executive Director of Techkraft, as the new President of NAS-IT. Koirala, who brings a wealth of experience and a visionary approach to the role, expressed his commitment to furthering NAS-IT’s mission of establishing Nepal as a global technology hub. “We will focus on optimizing IT resources, expanding market reach, and supporting industry growth. We will invest in workforce development, promote domestic IT solutions, and facilitate international expansion. This will create a long-term positive impact on the IT industry and benefit Nepal,” Koirala stated during his inaugural speech.
In addition to Koirala’s appointment, several other key positions were filled by notable industry leaders. Gaurav Raj Pandey, CEO of E.K. Solutions, will serve as Vice-President, while Abhaya Poudel, Co-founder of Gokyo Labs, takes on the role of Treasurer. Deepen Chapagain, Country Director at Logpoint, will be the General Secretary. The Executive Committee members include Alisha Shrestha (COO, Amnil Technologies), Narayan Koirala (MD, Eminence Ways), Kailash Raj Bijayananda (SVP, Leapfrog Technologies), Prarthana Saakha (Co-founder, B.I.C. Technologies), and Immediate Past President Richan Shrestha (CEO, Quickfox Technologies).
The handover of responsibilities from the founding president, Richan Shrestha, to the newly appointed president was a significant moment during the AGM. Under Koirala’s leadership, NAS-IT aims to accelerate its growth trajectory and continue promoting the development of the IT industry in Nepal. The organization has already achieved remarkable milestones in the past year, such as joining the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) and showcasing Nepal’s IT capabilities at London Tech Week.
Looking forward, NAS-IT remains committed to driving innovation and supporting the growth of the IT sector within the country. The newly formed leadership team, under Koirala’s guidance, is expected to focus on enhancing IT resources, expanding market reach, and creating an environment that fosters technological advancement and industry collaboration.
Another significant announcement during the AGM was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Orchid International College. This collaboration, following the AGM, is aimed at strengthening NAS-IT’s Sustainability Fund and reaffirming Orchid International College’s support for NAS-IT’s ambition of elevating Nepal as a global tech hub.
The Sustainability Fund is a critical initiative designed to ensure NAS-IT’s long-term financial sustainability while supporting innovation, research, and development within Nepal’s tech landscape. As a Sustainability Partner, Orchid International College will work closely with NAS-IT to support inter-industry cooperation and offer technological expertise. This partnership is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a strong and vibrant ICT ecosystem in Nepal.
The MOU signed between NAS-IT and Orchid International College outlines the collaborative efforts between the two organizations. It focuses on the growth of NAS-IT’s Sustainability Fund, a shared vision for Nepal’s tech development, and fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship opportunities. This partnership represents a step forward in NAS-IT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the ICT sector in Nepal and position the country as a leader in global technology.
With the new leadership team in place and strategic partnerships being formed, NAS-IT is poised to continue its mission of advancing the IT industry in Nepal. Under the stewardship of Santosh Koirala, the organization is set to build on its past successes and drive forward its vision of making Nepal a global tech hub.
