A total of 720,334 international tourists arrived during this period, reflecting a steady recovery in tourism post-COVID-19.

In August alone, 72,719 tourists visited Nepal, marking an increase from the 67,153 tourists recorded in August 2023 and significantly higher than the 41,304 tourists in August 2022. However, these numbers are still lower compared to the pre-pandemic period when 94,749 tourists visited in August 2019.

India continues to be the leading source of tourists, with 25,832 Indian nationals arriving in Nepal in August 2024. Other major source countries include China, with 6,614 tourists; the United States, with 5,614; Sri Lanka, with 4,851; and Bangladesh, with 3,077 visitors.

Month-wise, the NTB data reveals that 79,100 tourists arrived in January, 79,426 in February, 128,167 in March, 111,376 in April, 90,211 in May, 76,736 in June, and 64,599 in July. The steady influx of tourists each month underscores the ongoing recovery and resilience of Nepal’s tourism industry, which plays a crucial role in the nation’s economy.

With the global travel landscape continuing to evolve, these figures indicate that Nepal remains a popular destination for international travelers. The NTB anticipates further growth in the coming months as the country continues to promote its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and adventure tourism opportunities.
