Global IME Bank’s new CEO vows to strengthen brand and market presence

KATHMANDU: Surendra Raj Regmi has officially taken over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global IME Bank Limited as of Sunday. Prior to assuming his new role, Regmi was sworn in by the Chairman of the Bank’s Board of Directors, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, in a formal ceremony.

Regmi brings with him over three decades of extensive experience in the banking sector. His career began at Rastriya Banijya Bank, and in April 2008, he joined Global IME Bank as a Deputy Manager.

Throughout his tenure at Global IME Bank, Regmi has gained recognition as a distinguished banker, having worked in key areas such as credit management, risk and control, banking operations, risk management, compliance, branch operations, general administration, and merger management.

Holding a Master’s degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University and an MBA from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom, Regmi is well-equipped to lead the bank through its next phase of growth.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Chairman Dhakal expressed confidence that the bank would grow stronger under Regmi’s leadership. “Regmi has been with Global IME Bank since its inception. With his extensive experience in the banking sector, I am confident that he will provide excellent service to our customers and deliver appropriate returns to our shareholders while adhering to regulatory guidelines,” said Dhakal.

Upon taking office, Regmi shared that he feels both pride and responsibility in leading Nepal’s largest and most prestigious bank.

He committed to balanced business expansion, enhanced customer service and facilities, the introduction of new and secure technology-driven banking services, and ensuring a strong and respected presence in the market. Regmi also emphasized his goal to strengthen Global IME Bank’s brand, network, and market share during his tenure.
