KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that the monsoon wind is influencing weather conditions nationwide. The monsoon low-pressure line has shifted northward, resulting in generally cloudy weather across the country.
The Department has forecasted rainfall throughout Nepal. Light to moderate rain is already occurring in various regions, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
This afternoon, the country is expected to remain generally cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in many areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places within Madhes province.
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in select locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Department has also warned of possible torrential rain in one or two areas of Koshi, Sudurpaschim, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, urging residents to stay alert.
Tonight, the weather is forecasted to be partly to generally cloudy nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in several areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few areas of other provinces.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division predicts light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in most regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is expected in several locations within these provinces.
In light of the potential for torrential rain in one or two locations of the Sudurpaschim province, the Department has advised the public to be cautious of landslide and flood risks in these areas.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has recorded significant rainfall across the country in the last 24 hours. Kathmandu received 73 mm of rain, while Dharan experienced the highest rainfall at 104 mm. Other notable recordings include Okhaldhunga with 85 mm, Biratnagar with 80 mm, Janakpur with 74 mm, Jiri with 46 mm, Pokhara with 30 mm, Bhairahawa with 26 mm, and both Pokhara and Simara with 21 mm each.
The ongoing monsoon season continues to impact daily life, and residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions against potential weather hazards.
