Government forms five committees in the council of ministers

KATHMANDU: The government has formed five new committees within the Council of Ministers and named their coordinators. This decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, the committees have been established based on their areas of focus: political, administration, economic infrastructure, legislation, and social.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakashman Singh, has been appointed as the coordinator of the political committee. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Poudel, will lead the economic infrastructure committee.

Minister Gurung himself has been named the coordinator of the administration committee. Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Sarat Singh Bhandari, will head the social committee, while Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, has been appointed as the coordinator of the legislation committee.

In addition to these appointments, Bishnu Rimal has been named the chief political advisor to the Prime Minister, and Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada has been appointed as the economic advisor.

Spokesperson Gurung also announced that the Cabinet meeting has approved the participation of Dr. Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, in the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which will be held in New Delhi from July 21.
