KATHMANDU: In an extraordinary feat of endurance and skill, legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa has scaled Mount Everest for the 30th time, breaking his own record for the most successful ascents of the world’s highest peak.
Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Chief Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expedition, confirmed the historic achievement. “This morning at 7:49 AM, Kami Rita Sherpa successfully summited Mount Everest for an incredible 30th time,” Tashi Lakpa Sherpa announced. This remarkable ascent comes just ten days after Kami Rita’s previous summit on May 12, marking his 29th successful climb.
Khimlal Gautam, Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office at the Everest base camp, also confirmed Kami Rita’s achievement. “Kami Rita has reached the summit point of Mount Everest, setting a new record for the most successful ascents,” Gautam said.
Kami Rita, a senior lead guide at Seven Summit Treks and 14 Peaks Expedition, hails from Thame village in Solukhumbu, Nepal. Born on January 2, 1970, he has dedicated his life to mountaineering and has become synonymous with Everest.
His journey in mountaineering began in 1992 when he joined an expedition to Everest as a support staff member. Since then, Kami Rita has fearlessly embarked on numerous expeditions, not only summiting Everest multiple times but also conquering other formidable peaks such as K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu.
With over two decades of climbing experience, Kami Rita’s achievements have made him a legendary figure in the mountaineering community. His relentless pursuit of climbing excellence and his unmatched record on Everest stand as a testament to his skill, determination, and passion for the mountains.
