KATHMANDU: In a significant development, the government’s policy and programme document for the upcoming fiscal year 2024/25 is slated to be tabled today in a joint meeting of the federal parliament.
President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to address the joint session of the federal parliament at 3:00 PM, where he will officially unveil the government’s policy and programme for the fiscal year ahead.
According to Dasharath Dhamala, Assistant Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, all necessary arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the joint meeting.
The Federal Parliament Secretariat has extended invitations to Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, and other dignitaries to attend the joint session of the House of Representatives (HoR) and National Assembly.
In anticipation of the government’s policy and programme announcement, various lawmakers have voiced their expectations. Ramnath Adhikari of the main opposition Nepali Congress stressed the need for the policy to address issues related to people’s livelihoods, youth out-migration, and rural underdevelopment.
Echoing similar sentiments, Rana Kumari Balampaki of CPN-UML emphasized the importance of programs aimed at generating employment within the country.
Meanwhile, Tshiring Damdul Lama of CPN (Maoist Center) highlighted the significance of prioritizing the concerns of peasants and laborers, with a particular focus on making Nepal self-reliant in agriculture.
With expectations running high, all eyes are on the joint meeting of the federal parliament as Nepal braces for the unveiling of its policy and programme document, which is expected to set the tone for the country’s development trajectory in the coming fiscal year.
