KATHMANDU: In a bid to catalyze growth in Nepal’s information technology sector, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has unveiled plans to establish an Innovation Fund through government policies and programs in the upcoming fiscal year.
Speaking at an event commemorating the 7th National ICT Day, PM Dahal highlighted the importance of fostering innovation in technology. He affirmed that groundwork is underway for crafting the necessary legislation to bring the Innovation Fund to fruition.
“The government recognizes the pivotal role of communications and information technology in driving economic and social progress,” remarked PM Dahal. He emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering young scientists and entrepreneurs, encouraging them to leverage IT for income generation.
PM Dahal underscored the significance of youth engagement, reaffirming the government’s dedication to bolstering the Startup Program to harness the potential of young innovators.
Highlighting the transformative power of information technology, PM Dahal asserted, “Prosperity hinges on embracing IT as a cornerstone of development, governance, and employment generation.” He called upon stakeholders to expedite progress in the field, stressing its potential for socioeconomic upliftment.
The Prime Minister also addressed concerns regarding the surge in cybercrime, pledging to combat such threats through comprehensive legal and policy frameworks.
In closing, PM Dahal reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment for the sustainable growth of Nepal’s IT landscape, ensuring its expansion, security, and inclusive benefits for all citizens.
