KATHMANDU: With just a few days left until the grand event, the final touches are being put into place for the Himalayan Hydro Expo, slated to take place from Baisakh 12 to 14 (April 24 to 26). The theme, “Green Energy for Prosperity,” sets the stage for a groundbreaking showcase of sustainable energy solutions.
The inauguration ceremony, scheduled to be graced by President Ramchandra Poudel, is the highlight of the event. Organized jointly by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, along with the Investment Board Nepal, this expo has garnered significant support, including from the Indian Embassy, which serves as the country partner.
The expo aims to shed light on various aspects of energy development and expansion, emphasizing domestic and foreign investment, capital management, public participation, internal consumption, electricity trade, prosperity, and social development. Seven technical sessions and interactive programs are scheduled, covering a wide array of topics related to energy development.
Expecting participation from over a dozen countries, the expo will bring together governmental and non-governmental bodies, universities, investment firms, donor agencies, construction companies, financial institutions, insurance firms, and other stakeholders. It’s a platform to foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in the energy sector.
A special focus of the expo is to ignite the interest of youth in hydro-related activities, showcasing innovative products and services developed by individuals. A competition featuring two-minute videos on energy development will also take place, offering enticing prizes to winners.
As part of the expo, a morning rally will promote increased internal electricity consumption and eco-friendly transportation. Starting from Kamaladi Tower and culminating at the expo venue, Bhrikutimandap, approximately 26 kilometers away, the rally will be open to electric vehicles such as two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and buses, free of charge.
Highlighting the commitment to innovation, Kathmandu University’s green hydrogen car and electric tractor are anticipated attractions. These cutting-edge creations underscore the strides being made towards a sustainable energy future.
The Himalayan Hydro Expo promises to be an enlightening and inspiring event, bringing together stakeholders to chart the course towards a greener, more prosperous future.
