KATHMANDU: In a significant stride towards modernizing telecommunications infrastructure, Nepal Telecom has commenced the transition from traditional copper wire-based basic telephone (PSTA) service to Fiber to the Home (FTTH) technology across all areas under the jurisdiction of the Telecommunication Office in Sundhara.
The official inauguration of this transition took place during an event held in Sundhara on Thursday, presided over by Acting Managing Director Sangita Pahadi Aryal.
During the inauguration event, Acting Managing Director Aryal symbolically shut down the copper-based telephone service, marking the official commencement of the transition.
With this move, all telephone and ADSL lines previously dependent on copper technology have now been seamlessly migrated to a modern fiber technology network, leading to the decommissioning of the outdated copper network, as per Nepal Telecom’s announcement.
Expressing her satisfaction at the successful transition, Acting Managing Director Aryal emphasized the importance of replacing outdated infrastructure with modern solutions to meet the evolving demands of the telecom sector.
She highlighted the benefits of fiber technology, including enhanced speed, reliability, and scalability, which are essential in catering to the growing connectivity needs of consumers and businesses alike.
Nepal Telecom anticipates that this transition will bring about significant advantages for customers. With the latest NT fiber technology in place, customers will now have access to high-speed internet, telephone, and television services through a single wire, streamlining their connectivity experience and enhancing overall service quality.
This initiative underscores Nepal Telecom’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver innovative solutions and improve connectivity nationwide.
As the telecom landscape continues to evolve, such initiatives play a pivotal role in ensuring that Nepal remains at the forefront of digital transformation, empowering individuals and driving socio-economic development across the country.
