KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecast Division (MFD) of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a forecast of rainfall across various regions of Nepal starting today. Presently, Nepal is under the influence of a westerly low-pressure system compounded by local winds.
The MFD reports that the current weather condition spans from partly to mostly cloudy across the nation. In specific areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, there are reports of light rain accompanied by thunder/lightning, while sporadic to light snowfall is observed in one or two locations within the highlands and mountainous terrains of Koshi province.
According to the meteorological bulletin released by the MFD earlier at 6 am, the upcoming weather pattern suggests predominantly clear skies in the hilly regions, including Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
However, cautionary alerts have been issued by the MFD regarding the potential for scattered to light rain with thunder and lightning in certain areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces.
Furthermore, there’s a possibility of light snowfall in isolated spots in the high altitude zones of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
While the hilly regions, encompassing Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, are expected to maintain clear weather conditions, other parts of the country are also likely to remain mostly clear tonight.
Residents in hilly areas, particularly in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, are advised to anticipate scattered to light rain accompanied by thunder/lightning.
Additionally, there’s a chance of light snowfall in a few high hills and mountainous regions across Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Stay updated with weather forecasts and exercise necessary precautions accordingly.
