KATHMANDU: In a significant relief for commuters, the Narayanghat-Mugling road section, which had been subjected to a daily four-hour closure for bridge construction and wall cutting, will now remain open continuously. The Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Bhupendra Thapa, announced the lifting of the previously enforced closure, citing the expiration of the construction company’s deadline.
The construction company, Anak Construction, had requested an extension for the deadline for the third time, and the extended period concluded on Saturday, February 24. Thapa mentioned that since the wall cutting work for the bridge construction has reached its final stage, there is no necessity to halt traffic for further construction activities.
Kedar Nepal, the head of the Nagdhunga-Mugling road project’s west section (Narayanghat-Mugling), stated that the road had undergone closure for the third time, spanning 21 days since December 23, 2023.
Of the 19 bridges on the road, four were constructed four years ago, while the remaining 15 bridges were awarded under simultaneous contracts. The construction of these bridges commenced on March 23, 2020. With the continuous opening of the road, commuters can now expect smoother and uninterrupted travel along this crucial route.
