KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has successfully completed the construction of a cutting-edge domestic arrival terminal building at the Tribhuvan International Airport, dedicated to serving the needs of 400 passengers per hour. The inauguration of the terminal took place on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the travel experience for domestic passengers.
In addition to the new arrival terminal, separate departure and arrival buildings have been meticulously designed and constructed exclusively for domestic travelers. The Domestic Arrival Terminal building, currently in operation, is a testament to Nepal’s commitment to modernizing air travel infrastructure.
The construction of this state-of-the-art facility comes at a cost exceeding 60 million rupees, demonstrating a substantial investment in the improvement of air travel services.
Pratab Babu Tiwari, the Chief of Tribhuvan International Airport, affirmed that the new terminal has the capacity to efficiently serve 400 passengers per hour, providing a seamless and enhanced experience for travelers.
The dimensions of the new building are impressive, boasting a length of 40 meters and a width of 24 meters. Equipped with two 35-meter-long baggage conveyor belts, the facility is designed to streamline the baggage handling process for the convenience of passengers.
This milestone project is part of the airport’s comprehensive master plan, which outlines the construction of both domestic and international terminal buildings.
The estimated total cost of these developments is a staggering 4 billion rupees, reflecting a commitment to creating world-class aviation facilities.
The primary objective of constructing the new terminal is to address the growing pressure on domestic air travel and to facilitate the efficient management of the domestic terminal building.
Tiwari emphasized that the completion of this project is a significant step toward meeting the increasing demands of air travelers.
The newly unveiled terminal comes as a relief to domestic travelers, as the previous arrival hall was deemed insufficient, leading to congestion during simultaneous arrivals of passengers from one or two airlines.
With the introduction of the Domestic Arrival Terminal, this issue has been effectively addressed, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable experience for all passengers.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and the airport authorities express their commitment to continuous improvements, setting the stage for a more streamlined and modern air travel experience at Tribhuvan International Airport.
