KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has expressed his dissatisfaction with industrialists who are resorting to disconnecting dedicated power lines due to outstanding electricity dues.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters, he criticized the practice of forcefully disconnecting power lines, emphasizing that such actions are unwarranted, especially considering the financial constraints faced by the government.
Oli pointed out that the government is attempting to levy charges based on outdated billing practices under the guise of dedicated power lines. He questioned the rationale behind paying for a dedicated line if electricity is not being consistently supplied through it.
The Chairman stressed that it is inappropriate to cut power lines and disrupt electricity services, especially when entrepreneurs are grappling with the challenges of a recession.
According to Oli, fees for consumed electricity should be determined in accordance with agreed-upon terms, and any contractual disagreements should be addressed through negotiation rather than unilateral actions such as cutting off power lines.
