KATHMANDU: In 2024, Romania Opens Doors for 20,000 Employment Opportunities for Nepali Workers
The Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Kewal Prasad Bhandari, has revealed plans to provide work opportunities to 20,000 Nepali individuals in Romania in the coming year.
This decision follows the signing of a bilateral labor agreement between Nepal and Romania in the month of Asoj (mid-September to mid-October).
During a program conducted in Kathmandu on Thursday, Secretary Bhandari highlighted the approval of 20,000 work visas for the year 2024. The decision stems from the identified challenges in communication among Nepali workers and the complexities surrounding employment opportunities.
Romania, recognized as an attractive and secure destination for Nepali workers with ample prospects in the labor market, solidified a labor agreement with Nepal after 55 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Addressing concerns related to social security for workers, the labor agreement ensures that Nepali migrants in Romania can access social security benefits similar to those available to Romanian citizens. The government asserts that this agreement will prove beneficial for numerous Nepalis seeking employment prospects.
