KATHMANDU: Buffaloes of the Murrah breed received in assistance from India to Nepal arrived on Wednesday through the Jamunaha border transit of Banke.
The Government of Nepal had been making efforts for a long time to bring the special-breed buffaloes with high fertility rate to the country.
Accordingly, during the last India visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, it was announced that the Murrah breed of buffaloes would be presented as gifts to Nepal.
The Department of Animal Services has said that the buffaloes will undergo a due quarantine process before they are sent to the National Animal Breeding Offices in Pokhara, Lahan and Nepalgunj.
