KATHMANDU: In preparation for the festive season, the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has launched its annual initiative to provide fresh banknotes to the public. NRB is facilitating the exchange of new banknotes at a rate of NPR 18,500 per individual.
Within the Kathmandu Valley, residents can access the new banknotes through the Currency Management Department of NRB and various branches of commercial banks. These banks will receive a supply of new notes from NRB to offer this service.
Outside the Kathmandu Valley, individuals can exchange their old banknotes by visiting either the provincial offices of NRB or the branch offices of commercial banks.
NRB has identified several distribution points for the new notes, including its central office in Baluwatar, as well as branches in locations such as Biratnagar (Morang), Janakpur (Dhanusha), Birgunj (Parsa), Siddharthnagar (Rupandehi), Pokhara (Kaski), and Surkhet (Birendranagar).
