KATHMANDU: Marking the 18thanniversary, Ncell hosted four friendly football matches titled ‘Purple Kickoff’ at the iconic Lainchaur Ground in Kathmandu. These matches were part of an extended celebration to commemorate the significant milestone in Ncell’s journey, connecting Nepal and Nepali since the past 18 years.
Living to its brand promise ‘Today. Tomorrow. Together.’, Ncell had organised 7-a-side football matches under the anniversary theme ‘Here for You’. Ncell truly believes in focusing and living by the principle that it is here for Nepal and Nepali people.
The Purple Kickoff event featured well-known Nepali celebrities, veteran football players, and representatives from the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF), Nepal Sports Journalists’ Forum (NSJF), and Lainchaur Youth Club.
On Saturday (September 23), the first match took place between Ncell Team A and NYEF. Jabbor Kayumov, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of Ncell, also participated in the Ncell Team. Ncell emerged victorious in this match with a score of 1-0, with Prajwol Prjapati scoring the decisive goal.
The second match featured two teams of veteran players led by Anil Gurung and Biraj Maharjan, with Nepali celebrities joining their respective teams. Notable celebrity artists who participated in the football match included Ayushman Joshi, James Pradhan, Jitu Nepal, Presca Udas, Raymon Das Shrestha, Sandeep Chhetri, Samriddhi Rai, Aman KC and Trichu Rai, among others. Anil Gurung’s team clinched the victory with a score of 5-4.
Similarly, on Sunday (September 24), Ncell Team B competed against the local community team—Janawachanalaya Tatha Pustakalaya, Lainchaur Youth Club in which the local club won the match with 4-1. The second match of the day was played between Ncell Team C and NSJF. Coach Aman Pratap Adhikari led the NSJF team, which emerged victorious with a score of 4-3.
In line with the anniversary theme, ‘Here for You,’ several other activities and events are planned as part of the extended anniversary celebrations. These activities include blood donation, health camps in areas with low human development indices, and celebrity visits to Ncell Centres to interact with customers, among other events.
