KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has directed customers who owe dues for electricity supply services through dedicated and trunk lines to settle their outstanding payments within 15 days.
The NEA issued a public notice indicating that customers who have pending electricity bills under the dedicated and trunk line schemes must clear their dues within the stipulated timeframe.
The NEA’s notice also stated that customers who have failed to understand their outstanding dues through related distribution centers, despite previous communication attempts, will be provided with a 15-day grace period, as per the established regulations.
In cases where dues remain unpaid after the 15-day deadline, the NEA has warned of potential legal actions.
While load shedding has been officially terminated in Nepal since Jestha 1, 2075 B.S. (2018), some industrialists and entrepreneurs have not cleared their dues even after nine months of billing. The unresolved disputes have led to an increase in arrears, interest, and penalty amounts.
