KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has made the decision to temporarily suspend all flight operations conducted by Simrik Air starting from this Friday.
Gyanendra Bhul, the spokesperson for CAAN, stated that the move to halt Simrik Air’s helicopter operations was triggered by the company’s outstanding dues of Rs 4.6 million owed to CAAN.
A recent financial audit conducted by CAAN revealed concerning financial conditions within Simrik Air, leading to the suspension of flights due to potential safety concerns.
In accordance with the regulations outlined in the Civil Aviation Regulations of 2058 BS and the Airport Service Charges Regulations of 2078 BS, Simrik Air’s flight operations have been temporarily halted.
Bhul clarified that flight services will remain suspended until the outstanding dues are settled. Resumption of services will be contingent upon the full settlement of dues within the following day.
Among the four helicopters under Simrik Air’s purview, three are currently operational, while one has sustained damage. The company operates a fleet consisting of two Bell helicopters and two AS 350 helicopters.
