KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has introduced new regulations limiting the number of individuals allowed to see off and pick up each passenger to a maximum of three.
The decision was taken by the airport security committee in response to the overcrowding outside the domestic and international terminal buildings. The limited space and congestion at the airport have created challenges in traffic management and increased the risk of accidents.
The committee has observed that the growing crowds have had a negative impact on passenger services and have raised safety concerns in the passenger drop-off area.
Especially during the evening hours, when international flights are scheduled, there is a significant gathering of relatives and well-wishers in front of the international terminal building.
To address these issues, the new rule has been implemented to restrict the number of people bidding farewell and picking up passengers.
