KATHMANDU: A source at the Department of Tourism, Nepal, said that at least three sherpa climbers vanished in a fissure this morning as they were traveling from the base camp to Camp I.
The incident happened as Sherpa climbers were making their way to Camp I with rope-fixing equipment, the DoT source confirmed.
The icefall route collapsed this morning and a source said that “three Sherpa climbers have vanished in a fissure.”
According to a DoT officials from Everest base camp, a search and rescue operation is under way with participation from all parties involved.
